Altadena
House

Location: Altadena, CA.

Type: Single-Family

Surface: 1,200 SF

Status: In Construction

The Eaton fires in Pacific Palisades, California, deeply impacted the community. Many residents were displaced after their homes were destroyed.

Habanero Architecture worked with a homeowner to reimagine her residence with a renewed design.

Our client wanted abundant natural light and an open floor plan. In response, we designed a double-height clerestory window at the entry that opens into the living room. The bedrooms and bathrooms are arranged along the left side of the home, while the kitchen and dining areas are placed toward the rear. This clustered layout creates an efficient, comfortable, and easy-to-maintain home.

The black stucco symbolizes the home’s rise from the ashes, while the flat rooflines pay tribute to California modernism and the architectural character of the surrounding area.
